Micronesia


Micronesia produced 2036 tonnes of bananas in 2019 ranking it 98th in the world after Trinidad and Tobago and before Seychelles. According to The Island Food Community of Pohnpei on its "Let's Go Local" page, more than 50 varieties of bananas are grown in Pohnpei (One of Micronesia's four states.). Included are nutrient rich banana varieties such as Utin Iap, Utimwas, Karat, Mangat, Ihpali, Iemwahn, Utiak, Karat en Iap, Taiwang, Peleu, Akadahn, Akadahn Weitahta, Kudud, and Utin Kerenis.
