United States

The United States produced 3,467,000 tonnes of bananas in 2019, ranking 96th in the world, after Bhutan and before Trinidad and Tobago. Most banana production is in Hawaii and Florida. Relatively high labour and land costs encourage the production of specialty crops such as the Hawaiian apple banana, Thai bananas and cooking bananas (Bluggoe type) as well as organic production.
