New Delhi
Isa Khan's Tomb Complex
Isa Khan's Garden Tomb is in a complex adjacent to Hamayun's Tomb. This is the resting place of Isa Khan Niyazi, a noble at the court of Sher Shan Suri. The structure dates to the Hijra year 954 (A.D. 1547-1548) and predates the Tomb of Hamayun by more than two decades. It features the earliest example of a Mughal sunken garden in India as well as other architectural features typical of royal tombs in Delhi during the Sayyid and Lodi dynasties from the early 15th to the early 16th centuries.
