Amber Fort
The name "Amber Fort" evokes images of gemstones and rich golden orange colours but, in reality, it was named for the city of Amber which was the capital of the Kachawaha dynasty until 1727 it was moved to nearby Jaipur. The fortress was built in 1592 on remains from an 11th century structure. Man Singh I's citadel was extensively expanded during the reign of Jai Singh between 1621 and 1667.
