Bronze Statue of Tenaga (Long-Arms) on the the Kajibashi Bridge

In central Takayama, near the Miyagawa Morning Market, the Kajibashi Bridge crosses the Miyagawa River. Broze statues on oppositve sides of the bridge depict Tenaga (Long-Arms), pictured above, and Ashinaga (Long-Legs). These yokai (mythical spirits) from Japanese folklore work together to catch fish, with the long-legged one wading into deep water while the long-armed one catches the fish.
