Game Drives from Myumbani Collection Migration Camp

Hartebeest

More of a challenge to photograph than the hippos were these Von der Decken's hornbills (Tockus deckeni), named for the first European recorded as having attempted the ascent of Kilimanjaro.

The marabou stork is recognizable from its size, bare head and neck, black back, and white underparts, its huge bill, pink sac at its throat and its neck ruff. Its wingspan is amongst the largest of all landbirds.

The secretary bird has the body of an eagle and the legs of a crane which it uses in walking up to 20 kilometres in a day while hunting snakes.

Although it looks like a large rodent, the rock hyrax is, in fact, a distant relative of the elephant. Living in small colonies on kopjes or on rocky hillsides, they eat leaves, flowers and fruit.
