Entering Alaska through the White Pass
From Carcross I travelled along Lake Bennett, past the
Venus Mine, through the White Pass and down to Skagway.

The scenery was
magnificent. The town was a disappointment because it was over-run with
the human cargo of the two huge cruise ships anchored in the fjord. It
was neat seeing the White Pass and Yukon Route diesel and steam locomotives
that pull the tourist trains up to Bennett but I had soon had my fill of
Skagway (and American dollar prices) and was ready to head home.
