Anti-aircraft Battery Military Stamp of 1945

Anti-aircraft Battery Military Stamp
China's first pictorial military stamp depicted an anti-aircraft battery.

To encourage soldiers to write home, the military was allowed discounted postal rates. Starting in 1943, soldier were able to buy specially overprinted stamps in denominations that increased over time from 8 cents to 2 dollars. In 1945 an undenominated military stamp depicting an anti-aircraft battery was issued. W. Dennis Way observes, "It is poorly typograved on thin wove paper without watermark." Stamps were undenominated not because they were free to soldiers but rather due to the rampant inflation in China toward the end of the war.
