Cayo Coco, Cuba

Celia Sanchez, 'The Native Flower of the Revolution' (pictured on the billboard at the entrance to
the 'Dutch Village') inspired the construction of this agricultural community with its Dutch style
buildings. Sanchez became Fidel Castro's secretary after fighting in the Cuban Revolution.

Turbines located near the Cayo Coco causeway provide electricity
for people living in the vicinity. Small oil pumps dot the countryside
between the airport at Ciego de Avila and the causeway to Cayo Coco.
Millions of bicycles, imported from China, help deal with the energy crisis.
