Saskatchewan

The training academy for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Canada's

federal police force, is located in Regina, the capital of Saskatchewan.

Fort Walsh was established in the Cypress Hills of southern

Saskatchewan in 1875. The North West Mounted Police wanted

to control the whiskey trade which had resulted in the Cypress

Hills massacre of 1873. The events of this period are the subject

of Guy Vanderhaeghe's novel, The Englishman's Boy.
