Carnival Victory Banner

Barbados - March 18, 2009

When we disembarked in Bridgetown, rather than take an excursion, we paid six dollars (for two) to take a taxi to Brandons Beach, a nice sandy beach about a mile from the cruise ship dock. Although the snorkelling was not fantastic, we did see a variety of fish. The walk back to the ship took us past the Mount Gay rum distillery and the cricket stadium. Signs along the way proclaimed Barbados' enthusiasm for cricket.

In the afternoon we strolled into Bridgetown following the walkway along the waterfront. Much of the downtown area has been rennovated recently and much of the waterfront area between the Independence Gate and the cruise ship dock is very pleasant.
