Cover for the Last Day of the British Mandate
Cover franked with stamps for the British Mandate, the provisional People's Administration and the Israeli Postal Service.

This commemorative cover for the end of the postal service under the British Mandate and the inauguration of postal services for the Republic of Israel has three postmarks from May 5, 1948 to May 16, 1948. The first stamp is a 3 mil green Palestine "Dome of the Rock" Definitive of 1927 - 1942 cancelled on last day of postal service under the British Mandate. The middle stamp is a 5 mils brown Minhelet Ha'am (People's Administration) "Construction and Defence - Tractor" provisional stamp for the transitional period in May 1948. The third stamp is a 3 mil Israel "Ancient Judean Coin" representative of Israel's first set of definitive stamps issued on the first day of the Israeli postal service, May 16, 1948.
