Yangtze River Cruise
Three Gorges Dam

Over two kilometres long, the Three Gorges Dam was a controversial project that will generate 22 500 MW of clean power but at the cost of displacing 1.4 million people and causing tremendous enviromental disruption.

Even on a clear, sunny day the mist from the rushing water creates a blanket of fog in front of the dam.

High water flows were given as the reason that our cruise ship could not pass safely through the locks. We docked above the locks and took a bus to Yichang where we had lunch before to continuing by bus to Wuhan for our flight to Shanghai.
