San Juan - March 15 and 22, 2009

For our 2006 cruise on the Carnival Destiny, we arrived in San Juan the night before our cruise departed so we spent most of the day before our departure exploring the city. We loved watching the people flying their kites on the hill leading up to Fort San Felipe del Morro, enjoyed shopping for post cards and souvenirs and had a great day in the sun. When a mechanical breakdown on the Destiny delayed our return home by two days we got a glimpse of the beaches around the Caribe Hilton. This time we only got to admire San Juan's beauty from the taxi vans commuting to and from the airport and from the ship. We had hoped to spend some time in the city in the evening before the ship sailed but intermittent rain showers foiled our plans. Other than the crowding at the airport on the day we returned home, our travels through San Juan went very smoothly.
