Postmarked at the Indian Post Office in Zanzibar
According to George Krieger's article in The American Philatelist
of June 2000, the Indian Post Office in Zanzibar opened in November
1868 using Indian stamps. It closed on April 1, 1869 but was re-
opened on October 1, 1875. On November 10, 1895, control was
transfered to British East Africa. Stamps of India overprinted
''Zanizibar'' were used until Zanzibar issues were printed in 1896.
