Lisbon monument
built with stamps

One joy in travel is experiencing first-hand a sight that has been featured on a postage stamp . When in Lisbon, I made a point of visiting one such sight. This was a special case because the stamps in question did not just commemorate the sight, they actually contributed to its construction. The sight in question is Lisbon's Pombal Monument and the stamps are the Postal Tax and Postal Due issues of 1925 that were intended to raise funds for this monument.
